Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Reports 99.9% Residency Match Rate for Class of 2026

ERIE, PA — September 10, 2026 — Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) announced the results of its 2026 Match Day, held April 30, reporting a 99.9% residency match rate for graduating medical students. The result places 653 members of the Class of 2026 into residency training programs across the United States and marks another year of strong residency placement outcomes for the institution.

Match Day is a milestone in medical education during which graduating students learn where they will complete their postgraduate residency training. LECOM students matched into a broad range of specialties, including pediatrics, urology, psychiatry, and internal medicine, with placements at healthcare institutions throughout the country.

Among the residency destinations reported were Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey and the University of Virginia. Additional students secured positions in programs across multiple states and numerous medical disciplines, reflecting the variety of career paths pursued by the graduating class.

The 2026 results also included successful participation in the couples match process, a residency application pathway that allows two applicants to coordinate their program selections. The outcome reflects the diverse circumstances and career goals represented within the graduating class.

Bhuvan Bodipati, a member of the LECOM Class of 2026, reflected on his experience preparing for residency interviews and entering the Match process.

“They kind of gave you this expectation of professionalism, and I’ve carried that with me throughout everything I’ve done. And I think that’s kind of what made that difference in the end when I showed up to the interviews in that professional setting. I felt like I was prepared from day one on how to be a doctor,” said Bodipati.

The 2026 residency match data follows a 100% residency placement rate reported by LECOM for the Class of 2025. The institution has also reported ranking among the top 10 osteopathic medical schools for COMLEX pass rates and awarding approximately $4 million in scholarships annually. In addition, LECOM was recognized in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2026 Rankings.
